THE SPEAKER

Mr John Greenhalgh and Mr Tim Maddock each have over 30 years of experience in the international construction industry and have given many presentations to employees of dredging companies.

John Greenhalgh is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, a member of the Academy of Experts and a director of Greenhalgh Associates with over 35 years’ experience in providing contract management services as a consultant for employers, contractors and insurance companies. This has involved drafting and negotiating contracts, contract administration during execution, claims, disputes and acting as an expert witness. John has broad experience with large international infrastructure projects, dredging, reclamation and offshore works. In recent years he has been involved in the development and construction of offshore wind projects in northern Europe.

For over 10 years John has been involved in the drafting of FIDIC contracts and procedures:

  • FIDIC Red, Yellow and Silver 2nd Edition 2017 – updates task group member,
  • FIDIC Dredging and Reclamation Contract 2nd edition 2016 – task group chairman,
  • FIDIC Procurement Procedures Guide 1st Edition 2011– task group member.

 

Tim Maddock is Deputy General Counsel and Head of Contracts at Van Oord world leaders in dredging and marine contracting based in the Netherlands. Tim is a solicitor, and has worked for various large city law firms in London, including six years in the international arbitration department at Clifford Chance. Tim joined Van Oord in 2001 and is responsible for international contract management and dispute resolution. For the last 16 years, Tim has been involved in contracting and dispute resolution worldwide – including Singapore, Romania, Australia, Chile, Malaysia, Taiwan, Dubai, India and Argentina – and is very familiar with all international standard forms. He was part of the FIDIC task group that produced the second edition of the FIDIC Form of Contract for Dredging and Reclamation.
